This blog post was written following my visit to Utoya in 2019. Utoya is an island in Norway that was the site of a tragic mass shooting on July 22, 2011, where 69 people, mostly teenagers, were killed during a youth camp organized by the Norwegian Labour Party. It blog post was originally published by the now-defunct Centre for Analysis of the Radical Right, but I've decided to preserve a copy on my website as a way to continue sharing what was one of the most profound experiences of my career.
